Plant some kindness

A tree is known by its fruit; a man by his deeds. A good deed is never lost; he who sows courtesy reaps friendship, and he who plants kindness gathers love. ~ Saint Basil ~

Fruits of the forestThis image, which is art on paper, was getting a lot of viewing on Flickr so I thought I would give it an airing here too.

  1. It's beautiful. There's a saying here in India that if one creates a well of water that people can drink from, or plants a tree that gives fruit or shade, then his life is deemed "good."

On my comments, Blu, you asked a question about fame...since I don't know if you follow up, I'm posting the answer here for you also:

Blu: In a world where everyone seems to be seeking fame as the be-all and end-all, the ultimate attainment in the parameters of success, and most often for doing very little at all, it sounds quite trite to say, "No, actually, I don't want fame." But I couldn't be more serious. If you knew me personally, if you saw how I lived and how I respond to even the smallest amount of attention, you'd know that. But I *do* want "fame" for Mayapur, I want to offer an alternative to people who are out there wondering what the hell life is all about, wondering how it got to be that so many things have gone wrong, changed, declined, deteriorated, or disappeared since their own childhood, which was filled with values, with simple things. Life should be about simple living and high thinking, but all we see is high living and simple thinking. It's all backwards, Blu....it's all backwards. I simply want to offer an alternative. There are people out there who do things, achieve things, and are well known for it, whose name can represent something good; yet they're not the fame-whores that we see flooding the world today.
